Cancer is increasing day by day around the world. On the other hand, the World Health Organization and the United Nations have invited all countries of the world to prepare cancer control programs, and they have started intensive studies in cooperation with many institutions, organizations and non-governmental organizations, especially the World Cancer Organization, both at the global level and regionally.

Palliative care is an indispensable part of cancer control programs. Although many countries do not have sufficient human resources or economic power for cancer treatment, prevention or early detection, palliative care is a health system that can be developed in the fastest and cheapest way worldwide. It has been scientifically shown that palliative care services, which are accepted as a human right in many countries, provide a serious decrease in health expenditures, especially cancer, an increase in the quality of human life and even a prolongation in human life even in the terminal period.

Palliative care services have developed rapidly in our country, especially in the last 3 years. With its domestic morphine production, home health services and palliative care centers, it has become one of the most talked about countries in the world in recent years. However, we still have ongoing integration problems, problems with pain management guides, problems with reimbursement and certified trainings. In this context, we held the 1st and 2nd International Palliative Care Congresses in 2017 and 2021.

In this congress, we tried to bring together all the necessary representatives of the relevant sectors and Ministries and to open the current problems for discussion. Similarly, we will have the chance to examine the presentations of our centers performing important services in our provinces and the examples of good practices from 81 provinces one by one. We will have the chance to see the applications abroad and to consult with them about the situations in our country with the World Health Organization and representatives from foreign countries.

We would be happy to see you among us at the 5th National 3rd International Palliative Care Congress. PASHIDER Board of Directors
